I began teaching in Richardson school district in the North Dallas area. I taught 4th grade for 4 years in Richardson. I also taught 2nd and 8th grade in the Dallas area. I returned to child welfare for a short time, before returning to education in 2015, when I joined the Fern Bluff staff. I have a love of science, but truly enjoy teaching all subjects. Providing a safe learning environment, where all kids feel free to take academic risks, is very important to me.
Here are some of my favorite things, although I must say, I'm not hard to please! There's always room for a new "favorite", too!
Color: Purple (purple and black are awesome together!)
Animal: Monkeys! (but I like dogs too! :)
Food: Mexican and seafood
Snacks: Nuts, nuts, and more nuts!
Cookie: Gluten free versions of Snickerdoodle
Fruit: Pineapple, bananas, apples
Drink: Iced Tea and coffee
My love of kids cannot be any more evident than in the love I feel for my own. I am blessed to be the mother of two--a young adult son named Trei and my baby girl Zori, who is in the fourth grade at Fern Bluff. In addition to my children, I enjoy spending time with my family back home in Beaumont, where we frequently enjoy backyard barbecues and all day fishing trips!
I love lazy rainy days, but then again, who doesn't!! There's nothing like snuggling under a blanket and watching a good movie! However, I enjoy getting out and going! My absolute favorite hobby ever is traveling! I love road trips! I try to go somewhere every few months. My most recent road trip was to Nevada this past June. I also enjoy hiking the Austin area greenbelts, photography, shopping, fishing and just spending time with my family.
